FLAVORS OF RAJASTHAN – TRADITIONAL INDIAN COOKING WORKSHOP
In Jaipur, cooking is not just about preparing food: it is a dance of spices, fire and soul.
A sacred ceremony where every scent tells a story and every color vibrates like a mantra.
The experience begins with a walk through the local bazaar, where mountains of turmeric, cardamom, and garam masala paint the air. Vendors sell dried mangoes, lentils, jasmine flowers, and copper utensils. The pink city pulses to the rhythm of motorcycles, prayers, and flavors.
In a traditional house with an inner courtyard, amidst birdsong and temple bells, the workshop becomes a ritual: seeds are roasted, bread is kneaded, pakoras are fried, dal, basmati rice, and curries are cooked. Hands are dyed with saffron, and the air smells of ghee and cloves.
Food is served on thalis, round steel plates where each portion interacts with the others. Eating is touching, sharing, honoring.
Cooking in India is about paying homage to the body as a temple and to food as a blessing.
